The story of Christ's birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love. So, what happened? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a savior has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists. And when it's all over, many of us are left with presents to return, looming debt that will take months to pay off, and this empty feeling of missed purpose. Is this what we really want out of Christmas?

What if Christmas became a world-changing event again? Welcome to Advent Conspiracy.

Join us as we seek to worship more, spend less, give more and love all. A series of messages beginning 11/30/2008 explains more.

Teen Accountability Groups (TAG) are a small group of teenage boys or girls who commit to 10 weekly meetings offered throughout the year with one of our youth staff. During TAG, teens are held accountable for various habits of the Christian faith such as: daily prayer and Bible reading, Bible memorization, and sharing the good news of Jesus with their friends. Through these groups teens develop Christ-like character to positively influence the world around them.

Kid's Quest starts off with a time of singing, praying and speaking God's Word. After that time the children are split into age appropriate class where they are taught to recognize Jesus through Bible learning and are inspired to develop their faith and growth as disciples of Christ. This is also a place where children build lasting friendships as they explore Christ's love for others.

We are proud to be a part of the Felida community and pray that God will use Felida Baptist Church as a vital part of his plan for Felida. Our worship service is designed to be welcoming to seekers and believers alike. In addition, each of our mid-sized groups offer events and programs designed to welcome guests who want to have some fun and to get to know us.

In addition to supporting spiritual connection in the community, we work to address some of the practical needs of people throughout Clark County. We provide financial support to programs like Pregnancy Resource Center, Open House Ministries, and the Clark County Chaplaincy.

After people begin a relationship with Jesus, they need to have relationships with other people who also have that same connection. That's what the church is - a group of people who have all entered into a relationship with Jesus.

The Bible says that God made us in his image to know him and enjoy his goodness forever. But, since sin entered this world, we have all chosen our own ways instead of God's ways, and have preferred other things above him. The Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of God's glory" and "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Our connection with God is broken and there is nothing we can do to bridge the gap.

The good news is that God offers us connection with himself in the person of his Son, Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross, he took upon himself the punishment that we deserve for our sins. And when he rose from the dead, he proved that he truly is who he claimed to be: "I am the way, the truth and the life -- no one comes to the Father but through me" (John 14:6).

We experience connection with God by trusting Jesus and receiving him into our lives. The Bible says, "As many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name" (John 1:12).

Being connected to God is not a religion or a ritual -- it is a relationship that begins when we invite Jesus to forgive our sins and lead our lives. The Bible says, "God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life" (1 John 5:11-12).

If this makes sense to you, you can pray to begin a relationship with Jesus today. Tell him you are willing to turn from your own sinful ways and ask him to forgive you and begin leading your life.

We would like to help you experience a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Please read on about our Discovery Groups and try one out.

The purpose of a Discovery group is to explore the basics of the Christian life. It's designed for adults who would like to consider questions like, "Who is Jesus Christ?" "What makes a person right with God?" and "How can I live the life God wants me to live?" It's appropriate for seekers, new Christians, open minded skeptics, Christians who want a course on "the basics," and newcomers who want to know what Felida Baptist Church teaches.

We discuss these issues in a casual, "questions welcome" small group setting. Each group lasts about 8 weeks and meets on Sunday mornings after the worship service. Study materials, refreshments, and childcare are provided.

If you would like to attend, please email or call the church office.
